cause n.

“If you prove the cause, you at once prove the effect; and conversely nothing can exist without its cause.” —Aristotle, Rhetoric. cause n. The producer of an effect, result, or consequence.  A basis for an action or response; a reason. A goal or principle served with dedication and zeal. The interests of a person or group engaged in a struggle.

ef·fect n.

“The cause is hidden. The effect is visible to all.” —Ovid.  effect n.  Something brought about by a cause or agent; a result. an event, condition, or state of affairs that is produced by a cause.  Have an effect on; make a difference to.  The power to produce an outcome or achieve a result; influence. Advantage; avail.  To produce as a result.

Principles

It may sound a little contrived, but I think it’s important to have an ethos or a belief in what you do. The idea of cause and effect has always been a conscious mindset I have adopted to my approach to work, and in doing so it has underpinned the vigilance and exacting standards I maintain -both professionally and in personal pursuits.

If not contrived -or at the risk of sounding philosophical -causality is all around us. Every day. Every mundane thing is borne of cause and at some level yields a consequence. It’s the context, or measure of, that I like to remain conscious of and in doing so am reminded that my work is exactly a consequence of the ideas and possibilities my clients bring to me.

With this approach every job, no matter the size or scale, is important to me. Behind every job, every client is a business with a story. I feel privileged to be in a practise that can not only exact business opportunities for my client, but also continue -and sometimes help create -their story.

It’s a personal approach to work, and at the most fundamental level -if it can be reduced to a soundbite -is that causality keeps me mindful of my approach, my vigilance, standards and gratitude to be in such service of  creating business for those I work for.
